RULES FOR ENTRY

Rules of the Competition - we welcome feedback

Which sites are eligible?

The site has to have a connection with Brighton and Hove, so it could be a business or school that operates here, or the site of a community group based here but with members all over the country.

The judges reserve the right to decide how far to stretch this rule - we don't want to exclude anyone but if we reject a site we will explain why. It's the first time so we don't really know what to expect and as you'll se as you go on the judges have been generous in awarding themselves sweeping powers in such matters.

What about adult sites?

We expect sites to be appropriate for everyone of all ages, so nudity and profanity will not be tolerated. This also applies to any specific materials which the judges consider to be offensive in any way, and once again their decison will be final but will be explained.

Who can submit a site?

Anyone - it could be your own site that you made, just one you like, or even one you wish you'd made. There's none of this stuff about employees of the organisers thing, although they won't be eligible for the prize draw.

Because there's going to be a public vote we may accept nominations for sites either produced by or about one of the sponsors. We reckon that those busy old judges will have to decide when they sit down to shortlist.

Will the public be able to cheat and rig the vote?

Yes, probably. I mean that's what usually happens in online voting isn't it?

To get round this we've left the very final decision about who wins to the judges (surprise surprise) . We'll be asking people to identify themselves when they vote and offering a prize as a way of trying to get them to be honest.

So we may avoid mass spamming campaigns, but I think we'll have to wait and see when the final votes are cast how obvious any underhand tactics really are. And who's got the most mates.

Will you be using the information I give you to send me 'Get rich now' messages every 20 minutes?

No. We will aggregate the information to get some idea of what sort of people voted, and that information will be shared by the judges as we mull over what the whole thing meant... but no personal information will be used for anything other than to identify who wins the prize draw.

Are there any other rules that I need to know about that aren't covered by 'And anything else that the judges think of...'

No.
