...create a blog for your web site
There are several free blog hosting services on the Web and the most popular is Blogger, so that's what we'll be using for our example. You can either host the blog on your own Web space or store it free on Blogger's, although it will feature an advertisement at the top of the page.

Here's a step-by-step guide to setting up your own blog.

    Step 1: Getting started
Visit Blogger and click on the 'Start Now!' button.

Choose a username and password, then enter them into the form along with the other requested details.
Give a title for your blog and a brief description of what it's about

Step 2: Where will it be hosted?
You need to choose a host for your blog (i.e. where it will be stored). Blogger offers free hosting but your page will feature an advertisement at the top. You can upgrade online for $15 (Blogger is based in the US) or - if you're technically-minded - host it on your own server.

    Step 3: Choose a name
You can choose part of the name for your blog. All free blogs on Blogger end with 'blogspot.com', but you can choose the part that goes before that as long as no-one else has it already.

Step 4: The look of your blog
Blogger has a selection of templates you can use for the look and feel of your blog page. If you prefer, you can upload an HTML template of your own design.

    Step 5: Start writing
Now it's time to begin writing your blog. Just type the text into the space in the top half of the screen and click 'Post' or 'Post and Publish'. The second option sends your blog text straight to the host server, making your blog 'live'.

Step 6: Your blog is now live!
Now that you've posted your first comment on your blog you can view it or link to it from your own site.
