We've all heard the hype about a revolution in teaching. Children can teach themselves online, use CD ROMs to find out everything they need to know. Teachers can set homework that they can do online... it's a rosy future.

But what is the reality at the interface between the Internet and the education system?

Millions of pounds is being invested in teacher training, new web pages go up everyday which promise to provide solutions for hard pressed teachers, But many feel left out , are uncertain where to begin, or feel unable to teach something which they were never taught to understand.

The Education Day of the Virtual Festival focuses on the practical tools that teachers need to be able to fulfil the true potential of their pupils, to use the information superhighway as a positive force for change and to bring the Internet truly into the classroom.
