Have you ever asked any of these questions?
What can technology do for me?
How can my community group benefit from new technology?
    How much will it cost?
What do I need to get started?
How can I build a web site about my group?
    Why should I go online?
How can the internet help our local community?
If the answer is yes and you want to know the answers to these and many more questions about technology, the community and you, then contact SCIP. We're here to help you demystify new technology and get the most benefit from it.

Sussex Community Internet Project works with people from the local community to promote the ways that the internet and new technology can be used for the benefit of all.

SCIP's aims

  • To raise awareness of the potential benefits of new technology to everyone in the community
  • To promote access to resources for people who would not otherwise be offered it
  • To offer training and build the resources which reflect the needs of community groups and disadvantaged people.

We have provided free training and advice to over 3000 people in the last four years. Many of these people have been from local community and voluntary groups, reflecting our aim to help people to understand how new technology can help build better communities for us all.

The way we work is:

  • in partnership, not in competition
  • led by people, not by technology
  • learn from others, sharing experience and skills
  • not existing for private profit
  • empowering people to be information providers
  • run at minimum cost to achieve maximum participation
  • value all contributions from all parts of the community
