Starship Titanic is Launched!

The Dome Theatre stalls were three quarters full for Dillons Bookshop's promotional and booksigning event to launch Douglas Adams and Terry Jones' collaboration: 'Starship Titanic'.

Jones and Adams go back twenty-odd years - twenty veryodd years! - and clearly inspired each other and were inspired by the concept, which was "a little digression" in an earlier book by Adams: 'Life, The Universe and Everything'.

"...the Starship Titanic had, shortly into its maiden voyage, undergone Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure."
"In just ten seconds, the whole, stupendous enterprise is over. And our story has just begun..."

The book - which Terry Jones insisted on writing in the nude - at first glance looks like a good 'Python/Milliganesque' read and worth six quid of anyone's money, but the interactive version looks beautiful! We were treated to a sample of the extraordinary vision of Isobel Molina and Oscar Chichoni - a fantasy artist and an architect - and their team of computer graphic artists.

If you have a PC with a CD-rom drive (Mac version available shortly) forty quid burning a hole in your pocket, a warped sense of humour and a lot of spare time on your hands, this looks like a world you could get lost in clear through to the next milennium.

In the meantime, if you are online - which you must be if you are reading this - check out the web site at: http..//www.starshiptitanic.com

Welcome aboard....
